About Our Coaching Staff

Any team is only as good as its ability to work together, and coaches are a key part of creating the community that defines THE GREAT BLIZZARDS SPECIAL HOCKEY. Along with the generosity of our sponsors, we are blessed to have the following coaches with their vast hockey and life experience, empathy, patience, energy and enthusiasm:

Coach Steven Cowing - Sporting a long hockey resume since his days playing Pembroke Youth Hockey, Coach Steven has been volunteering his time at the New England Village in Pembroke since 2011. Coach Cowing brings his youthful and playful demeanor to the team, on and off the ice, and has been a staple on the SELECT team against the Boston Bruins Alumni.

Coach Tomm Turner - Our top-notch goalie expert, Coach Tomm began with The Great Blizz as an Assistant Coach and quickly earned the title of Coach. The goalie on our SELECT team which plays against the Boston Bruins Alumni, Coach Tomm takes great pride is passing on his knowledge between the pipes to our Great Blizz players and is a tireless and charitable purveyor of equipment for our team, always delivering for the team like Cape Cod Express.

Coach Liz Lauzon - A former trailblazer college player with 9 years of coaching youth hockey, Coach Liz also has been working with Learn to Play programs for 12 years while professionally attending to adults with Acquired Brain Injuries. She is still competitive between the pipes in national tourneys and is up for every challenge.

Coach Michael Breen - In 2018, after 21 years, Coach Mike retired from coaching high school hockey. But not before winning States with his 2006-2007 Scituate High team. A fitting story to a Scituate High hockey hero himself in the '70s. He's passed down the good genes to daughter Emma, a Great Blizz assistant coach and premier prep hockey player and now college coed.

Coach John Nathan - a lifelong coach and sports enthusiast, Coach John has shared his mastery of hockey, basketball, soccer and other sports at the youth level, including Bourne High School and Pembroke Youth Hockey. As a soccer coach, Coach John has 4 US Soccer Federation Coaching Licenses - USSF "D" "E" "F" and "G."  And a USA Hockey Level 4 CEP Certification. Thru Hockey Canada and Hockey Saskatchewan he is a certified Respect in Sport Activity Leader.  In days gone by he was even seen wearing the zebra shirt!

Coach Joe Coletti - a fixture on the Duxbury hockey scene, Coach Joe has managed youth programs for the Duxbury Youth Hockey and Bay State Breakers programs for years. With a USA Hockey Level 4 Certification, the career forward at New England College brings professionalism and positive thinking to The Great Blizz. Off ice, Coach Joe is the radio voice behind the popular "Friends with Benefits" program on  WATD 95.9FM

Coach Adam Bellantoni - The first guy on the ice, setting up long before practice begins, Coach Adam coached Bourne Youth Soccer and has coached his wife's women's hockey tournaments. A dedicated hockey couple, the Bellantonis were married on the ice at Warrior Ice Arena.
