Our History

Our
Roots

Founded in 2019 by Steve Nearman and Erick McCroskey, The Great Blizzards of Massachusetts Special Hockey Inc. emerged from a vision to bring special needs hockey to the South Shore. Inspired by their sons' love for the sport and the lack of local inclusive programs, they built a community where players of all abilities could thrive. Initially operating out of Kingston’s Bog Ice Arena and later expanding to Cape Cod’s Tony Kent Arena and Winthrop’s Larsen Rink, our organization has grown into a beacon of inclusion, supported by dedicated coaches, volunteers, and sponsors. Today, we serve over 85 players, creating lasting memories and opportunities on and off the ice.
